Cockburn, Christopher (1957- )

My year of birth is 1957. I am a South African church and concert organist and choir director. I studied at the University of Cape Town and in England and was assistant organist at St George’s Cathedral, Cape Town. From 1985 to 2003 I was organist and choir director at the Cathedral of St Michael and St George in Grahamstown, where I composed the chant published in ‘Cantica Nova’ as well as other choral music. I also lectured at Rhodes University in Grahamstown and am currently on the staff of the Music Department at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban.
